About Me

After living in Las Vegas for several years, I’m still trying to figure it all out. I’m a Southern girl, complete with old-fashioned values and a love of cream gravy and all things deep fried. I live with my dog, two cats, and a very understanding husband.

As an art model, I spend an inordinate amount of time sitting or standing perfectly still, sometimes in the same position for days at a time (with breaks of course). I would love to write a book about the thoughts that float through an art model’s mind as he/ she sits and stares, all the while being the object of other peoples’ complete focus and attention. I swear sometimes I can feel the brushes and charcoal on my skin as they work. This blog is my way of putting some of my random musings out there into the world… stay tuned!

Hi. my name is Michael Wardle. i’ve been a full time artist for 37 years. I used to do a lot of figure painting and sculpture; less lately, but would like to find a new model to revisit the figure in my work. My website is at michaelwardle.com and michael wardle las vegas on facebook. You can find examples of my past and current work at these locations. If you’d like to talk on the phone, my cell number is 702-858-9235. I would prefer to meet for coffee somewhere instead of at my studio.

Sheila, I would go to any local art school – possibly the local community college. They may have someone there who would like to get some practice in with a live model. Don’t use Craig’s List for this, I’d be too worried about who responds. Your best bet is the local art community. Good luck!

Hi! I just moved to Las Vegas. I have always been a lover of everything art, however, when I joined the military I lost touch with it. Now that I’m out and starting over, I would love to get back into it. I guess I’ve been picky with job searching, only because I want something more toward my interest, but it’s hard when the only experience you have is military and retail. Do you have any tips/advice how to get my foot in the art world door?

Hi Lera, Welcome to LV! Are you interested in becoming an art student? I’ll try to help, but I’ll need a little more info into your background and interests in the art world.
